A private client wanted to create a Pixar-style animated short film for his wedding proposal. The idea: tell their love story through stylised 3D characters, with the emotion and poetry of the best animated films, culminating in the big question.
The challenge: produce a cinema-quality animated short on a tight timeline and a private budget. This is where hybrid AI production combined with human art direction comes into its own.
Our team used a hybrid AI production pipeline. Generative AI created the environments, textures and animation bases. Our art director oversaw every frame - character expressions, framing, emotional timing, colour grading.
The storytelling is at the heart of the film: we follow the couple through the key moments of their story. Each scene is an emotional vignette - the meeting, the first trip, the laughter, the challenges, and the final proposal.
The Pixar style demands lovable characters, cinematic lighting, poetic transitions and an emotional soundtrack. Every detail is crafted to create a film that makes you laugh and cry - just like a real Pixar film.
A short film that had the entire audience in tears at the screening. The proposal was accepted (phew). The film became a treasured keepsake for the couple and a landmark case study for AI production at Nexia.
This project proves that generative AI can create genuine emotion when directed by a real art director. Technology in service of humanity, literally.
